Spring Testing

March 9, 2016

Each spring, our middle school students sit for a standardized exam called the ACT Aspire. ACT Aspire is a benchmarked, standards-based system of assessments in writing, reading, English, and mathematics. The score reports that are provided highlight individual student progress towards College Readiness. The ACT Aspire will tell us which important skills, and knowledge your student has now and which skills and knowledge still need to be learned in order to be successful in school now and in the future. ACT Aspire will also provide specific suggestions for  improving skills. The overall goal of this assessment program is to provide relevant achievement  data. School personnel and families can gain insights and plan academic supports and growth opportunities for students to achieve success.  If you have any questions please contact Gina Watkins, Guidance Counselor, at 314-367-8085, ext 262 or gwatkins@crossroadscollegeprep.org.

Beginning this year, our 10th grade students will no longer take the ACT Aspire. Instead, they will take a full-length practice ACT exam provided by Princeton Review. Results of this test and suggested strategies for test preparation for junior year will be shared with sophomores and their parents at Sophomore Parent Night, Thurs., April 21 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m..

Also beginning this year, Crossroads juniors will take an official ACT test here at Crossroads on Tuesday, April 19th. The exam begins promptly at 8 a.m. in the gym. Score reports will be sent to families directly from ACT and scores from this exam can be used when applying to college. If you have any questions about sophomore or junior testing, please contact Elaine Todorov, College Counselor, at elaine@crossroadscollegeprep.org.
