adminUncategorized

Our faculty and staff is looking forward to seeing all of you on Monday, August 15th for our annual orientation and picnic. For our newer families, here are some details about this event:

4 to 5pm

New Family Orientation: Parents and guardians will have an opportunity to meet our leadership, administrative and counseling teams and ask questions. Kim will review essential school expectations that are important for all of our families to know. We consider this hour a “Crossroads New Parent 101” session. Students will be escorted by our Student Ambassadors and they will spend the hour meeting with their advisors, visiting their lockers, walking their class schedules if they choose, etc. The hour will fly!

Childcare: We will provide childcare for young children during the orientation. If you have children who are too old to go to a daycare room, please encourage them to bring a book or something quiet to do while they are with you during the orientation meeting.

Senior Family Group Meeting (optional): Beth Brasel, our new College Counselor, will be available to meet with parents and guardians “Open House” style. Please come say hello, introduce yourself and welcome Beth to Crossroads. Students do not need to attend this meeting.

5 to 6:30pm

Community Picnic: We will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, sides, drinks, chips and accompaniments. Families are welcome to bring picnic blankets to sit outside. No alcohol is allowed at this event.Childcare will not be available during the picnic.

Parent Information Tables: We will have information this evening about our Parent Ambassador program, volunteer opportunities, our Booster Club, Gala and more.

School Gear Sale: Lots of Crossroads gear will be available to purchase. We are able to take credit cards, but cash and checks are preferred.

Schedules/Lockers: Updated copies of your child’s schedule will be available during the picnic. The updates will include classes for enrichment blocks (W, X, and Y) and locker assignments. Students are welcome to bring their books or organization systems to put into their lockers.

Emergency Forms & Permission Slips: IMPORTANT! We are asking families to fill out or update student emergency forms and permission forms before or during the picnic. This includes medical information (insurance, medications, and chronic illnesses) and alternate emergency contacts. Please have this information with you. All emergency forms and permission forms must be submitted by the first day of school. If you are not able to attend the picnic, forms will be sent home and can be returned by your child.

School Tours: Student Ambassadors will be available to provide tours and show classrooms if you are interested.
