This semester, the Middle School Makerspace class at Crossroads College Prep took creativity and collaboration to the next level with a hands-on project that challenged their skills in engineering, physics, math, and artistry. The result? A custom-designed mini golf course that turned out to be a hit with both the designers and their peers.
The project involved students working together to brainstorm, plan, and build the mini golf holes using the tools and resources available in the Makerspace. From woodworking to precise measurements for putting angles, the process required the application of multiple disciplines, blending STEM with creative design.
To celebrate the completion of their project, the students took a field trip to Magic Mini Golf, where they tested their skills on a full-scale course. The trip was a highlight of the semester, with several students scoring a hole-in-one, making for an unforgettable experience.
During finals week, the Makerspace students shared the fun by teaching the rest of the school how to play their custom-designed putt-putt course. The school community had a blast, enjoying the playful and relaxed atmosphere—a perfect way to de-stress during a busy time.
The Makerspace mini golf project wasn’t just about having fun; it was a demonstration of how hands-on, interdisciplinary learning can lead to the creation of something both challenging and enjoyable. The entire Crossroads community extends its congratulations to the Middle School Makerspace students for their hard work and creativity, and for sharing the fruits of their labor with everyone!
