The boys were getting ready to practice on Friday night at Blue Springs H.S. in 17 degree weather. The lights were on, the field was pristine, and the team shared a common feeling: “This is pretty cool!” Our boys’ soccer team advanced Crossroads to the State Final Four for the first time in school history and the entire community shared in the excitement.
With fans arriving by bus and by cars, Crossroads College Prep put itself on the map: our map, our way. Our boys created memories for themselves, their parents, their coaches, and their community by advancing. The semifinal game was a disappointing 2-1 loss to eventual State Champion Barstow School out of Kansas City. The game went through two overtimes and the outcome was determined by penalty kicks. Although disappointed, the boys saw immediately what they had accomplished and sustained a sense of pride in themselves and their school.
Congratulations on a great season, and not only because of the level you achieved. All season the team continued to work hard and develop a solid team chemistry that made all of the success possible. We were proud of you before going to KC, and following the trip you enhanced our feelings through your grit and determination.
