August 30, 2024

Crossroads College Preparatory School is thrilled to announce that it has been accepted to deliver two presentations at the upcoming ISACS Conference—a remarkable achievement that reflects the school’s commitment to innovative educational practices. This rare opportunity allows Crossroads to showcase its progressive approaches to wellness and education alongside other leading institutions.

Creating Space for Wellness: Unlocking the Mind-Body Connection
This session is designed for educators and school administrators seeking to understand the intricate relationship between mental health and pain. Participants will explore how schools can better support students facing mental health challenges. The presentation will feature insights from Crossroads’ student-led project aimed at reducing mental health stigma, along with firsthand accounts from students sharing their coping strategies. Attendees will leave with actionable plans to create supportive environments and free resources from Migraine at School, which offers tools for managing migraine and pain.

Presenters:

  • Amy Graham, Executive Director, Migraine at School
  • Gretchen Roberts, Coordinator of Student Life and Certified Yoga Instructor, Crossroads College Prep
  • Celeste Chappuis, School Counselor, Crossroads College Prep

Creating an Educational Laboratory to Challenge the Factory Education Model (on 5th Day)
This presentation will delve into the innovative 5th Day Program at Crossroads College Prep, which centers student voice in immersive, interdisciplinary learning experiences. Educators will learn how to design educational environments that foster creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration, moving away from the traditional factory model of education. This session aims to inspire participants to embrace a more dynamic approach to teaching and learning.

These presentations are a testament to Crossroads’ commitment to innovative education and student well-being. We look forward to sharing our insights and experiences with fellow educators at the ISACS Conference and are proud to represent our school in such a meaningful way.
