Basketball Wrap Up

Girls’ Basketball

The Girls’ Basketball program completed another season this past month, and they continued to show development under coaches Mike Pomatto and Monique Roberts. The win-loss record may not have been what the group would have wanted, but they continue to show signs of improvement as well as being a very difficult team to play against. With five seniors on the squad, one would think that leadership would have been strong. They would be right! Seniors Elysse Price, Faith Blank, Annie Chappell, Claire Corliss, and Kieran Uhlmansiek were extremely dedicated and productive. This will be a group that cannot be replaced. Instead there will be an opportunity for others to step up next season and mold the team in their own way. Other members of the Varsity team include junior Charlotte Veith and sophomores Faith Webster, Blaire Williams, and Malasia Taylor. Freshman Catherine Birch played the entire season with the Varsity while Maddy Fuller, Mirrianna Brigham, Ashlyn Wiley, Nya Steward, and Meg Corbett split time with the JV and Varsity. The JV squad included sophomores Arno Yang, Maggie Hughes, and Faith Gilmore. Freshmen team members were Olivia Smith, Anya Sampson, Camden Breckenridge, Sophie Cohen, and Elissa Price-Willis.

We are extremely proud of all the girls who worked so hard all season!

Boys’ Basketball

The Boys’ Basketball teams had a very difficult winter. Through the rough time, there were certainly some bright spots and some pleasant surprises. The Varsity will lose two seniors, Homer Dula and LaVaughn Caradine. Both have been four-year players and have given a great deal to the program, on and off the court. They will be missed. The program moves forward counting on junior Ethan Lutjens finding his way as a leader and go-to player. His development is pivotal to the team’s success. Juniors Gerald McAdoo and Joey Blank also figure to be key role players next season. Sophomores that played with the Varsity and JV include Andrew Guest, Jude Huck- Reymond, and Emmanual Gerbi. Freshman Jordan Caradine shared time between the Varsity and JV and really came on as the season progressed. Freshman point guard Kavion Chester played the whole season with the Varsity and is extremely important moving forward. Freshman Miles Thomas also split time between JV and Varsity. Members of the JV team include Daniel Baumstark, Ellis Twiggs, Johnny Wang, and Hritwik Singh.

Thanks to the coaches, Stephen Abdul-Hamid and Kendall Ware for working so hard through a difficult time. Most of the kids deserve a great deal of credit for persevering. Adversity makes you stronger if you learn from it.
