Our students have been invited to participate as performers in the African American Read In on Feb 26th from 5:00-7:00 at the Monsanto Family YMCA on Page Blvd. I invite all members of the community (parents and friends too) to join us on this evening as performers or guests to celebrate the literature, culture, and heritage of African Americans. Award winning author Patricia McKissack will be the guest speaker; families will engage in reading and art activities and enjoy performances; there will be singing and dancing; and we will read from the literature of African Americans. Student who chose to memorize a poem by an African American for their Poetry Out Loud in January are particularly encouraged to participate.
