BOYS’ BASKETBALL

The Crossroads Boys’ Varsity Basketball team is at the mid-season point and have held their own in the very balanced SCAA. Having lost some key pieces to graduation, many team members are finding themselves filling new roles this season. The team currently owns a 4-10 overall record, and sits in 3rd place in the conference with an undefeated record. The Current has defeated rival Brentwood as well as Hancock in conference play. Senior Andrew Kowalkowski is having an outstanding campaign, leading the team in virtually every category. AK is averaging 17 points per game and nearly 12 rebounds per contest. Junior Gabe Felsher also shines, leading the team in 3 pointers and doing the majority of the ball handling. The majority of the remaining members of the team are young and are gaining valuable experience.

The JV team is also putting in their work. Composed of mostly inexperienced players, Coach Mike Pomatto is emphasizing fundamentals and the boys are working hard at improving on the skills necessary to excel.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

The Crossroads Girls’ Varsity Basketball team is also in a rebuilding pattern. After graduating almost all of the team’s ball handlers and scorers, this group is trying to forge its own identity. With no seniors on the roster, many young players are playing big minutes and enduring growing pains in the process. Juniors Essence Price and Elizabeth Birch are pacing the Current in most categories. Both are averaging over 10 points per game. Junior Siane Moore is running the point most of the time and is beginning to develop a feel for her teammates on the floor. Sophomores Elysse Price and LaTrese Robinson have begun to show some promise down low. A quality victory against Kennedy and wins against Barat and Bayless highlight the season thus far.

The Girls’ JV team has not had as many games as we would like, due to other schools canceling JV schedules due to a lack of girls. The team is rotating 4 or 5 sophomores who play Varsity with other freshmen and sophomores. The light schedule picks up as the team plays 8 games in the next 10 school days.
