Love: Spaces in Your Togetherness

adminUncategorized

Friends,

Khalil Gibran writes this about love: “Let there be spaces in your togetherness, and let the winds of heaven dance between you.”

As much as I write about what brings us closer and what keeps us working together as a network, I thought I’d bring some attention to the importance of loving distance and respecting the spaces between us. I think one of the ways we build capacity for loving distance and appropriate space is through listening. This week, Kim asked some students from each grade level to join her to learn some facilitation skills so that students can lead conversations about a variety of topics important to them, to our school, and to our world. These student led dialogues will, I believe, foster both togetherness and the space between for listening and empathy.

We will see and hear each other better in this way, and we will bring another layer of justice and equity to our conversations.

With great expectations,
Jason
