Hands Up Walk Out

Today at noon, approximately 45 Crossroads participated briefly in a Ferguson Action #HandsUpWalkOut. Crossroads students joined people across the country who walked out of schools and businesses to show solidarity with the Ferguson community. “Even if we couldn’t see them, it was a really cool experience to be in solidarity and to offer support,” Zoey Fleisher said. Today was a cold day and although students didn’t do much once outside, Zoey believes that it brought awareness to systems of privilege and gave students an opportunity to reflect on how they can contribute to a more just school and world.

Zoey sees this as a starting point for good conversations, and she and Jason talked about ways to pursue this at Crossroads and with other schools in the area.
