Writing Contests

adminUncategorized

There are two writing contests students should consider entering; both offer cash prizes and both are ones Crossroads students really could win!

2017 Beverly Hopkins Memorial Poetry Contest

This is open to high school students who may enter up to three poems that have not been published elsewhere (except school journals). The deadline for submission is March 1.  Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Crossroads students have won this in the past. Please see your English teacher for more information or for help with editing.

2017 Steve Gruetzmacher Homeless Awareness Essay Contest

This is an essay contest open to students grades 7 through 12. The goal of this contest is to sensitize its participants to issues associated with homelessness, dispel misconceptions, and cultivate empathy and respect for those in our communities experiencing homelessness. There is a $1000 prize and not many people apply as it entails research and work: entrants must have completed some research or work with homelessness to apply.  Please see your English teacher for more information or for help with editing.
