What Is Good Work?

adminUncategorized

By good work, we are referring to the book of the same title that defines good work as “work of expert quality that benefits the broader society” (Gardner, Csikszentmihalyi, and Damon); we are referring to our service programs and to challenging our students to be smart and good.

We will learn from our service organization partners – our Good Work partners – what it means to apply ourselves to the greater good. This “good work” sits right at the intersection of scholarship, imagination, and responsibility. Just as student’s conduct labs in science classes, our Good Work program is a social responsibility lab, and it is yet another way the City of St. Louis (and the region) are extensions of our campus.

Throughout the year, we will feature one of our Good Work partners in the Wednesday Notice: next week, the World Pediatric Project, run by Crossroads parent Kate Corbett!
