adminUncategorized

Dear Parents and Students,

The school year is nearly here, and we are all very excited for a fantastic year of Crossroads College Prep Athletics. The bar has been set high and we like it that way. It is time for new faces to step into prominent roles. We can’t wait to see how the pieces of the puzzle fit together. This is my annual letter to inform you of what to expect in the coming weeks as practice commences and the school year begins.

Volleyball: Bob Beatrice bob@crossroadscollegeprep.org (314) 495-6190

I am happy to continue coaching the Varsity Volleyball team. I have enjoyed working with the girls the last several seasons and I am looking forward to watching an experienced and talented team that is poised to make a serious run this fall. I expect this team to be competitive from Day 1, competing for the South Central Athletic title and being a contender in the State playoffs. We will again be offering a JV team to provide an opportunity for our younger players to get stable playing time that aids in each player’s development.

Tennis: Todd Arneson todd@crossroadscollegeprep.org (805) 245-4554

Todd Arneson takes over the Tennis team this season. Todd has been teaching English at Crossroads and will bring tennis experience from his time at Shattuck-St. Mary’s and The Dunn School. Todd will bring discipline and work ethic to this leadership position and is anxious to help mold this team into a dedicated and focused group. The team practices and plays their home matches at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park.

Soccer: Ben Birch benbirch@mindspring.com (314) 920-1537

Ben Birch returns to coach our Boys’ Varsity team. Ben has served Crossroads at the Middle School level,  as an assistant for both the boys and girls, and has been the head coach for the boys and girls the past several years. This team will have some experienced players returning and will be counting on players to serve in prominent roles. After the team made a run last season into the Final Four, they plan on competing for both District and Conference championships and beyond. The team will be practicing in Forest Park and will play their games at Midwest Soccer Academy.

Practice: Practices will start for all Upper School Fall sports on Monday August 3rd. All students interested in playing any of our three fall sports should arrive at their practice site at the designated time with the appropriate equipment. Please MEET AT THE PRACTICE LOCATION (see below) and make sure that you have a pick up from practice location. Please be prompt since our pre-season practices get us prepared for the upcoming season. If you are unable to attend or are new to the program, please contact the coach for the sport you are interested in playing. I have provided information for all pre-season practices.  You can also get information about practice times by calling, texting or emailing the head coach of the respective sports or contacting me at 367-8085 ext. 215. Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions you may have.

Schedules: The Fall Athletic Schedules will be available for all fall teams.  As part of our commitment to being a green school, we will not be mailing paper copies of our schedules. Instead, we will post our schedules on our website and on the Edline homepage.  The MOST accurate schedule will always be the Athletic Schedule on the website and Edline homepage. The schedule is tentative and subject to change. All teams will practice Monday through Friday during the entire season. There could be additional practices called for on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the season.

Physical Exams: Please remember that all student/athletes must have a physical examination that occurred after February 1st, 2015 as well as up to date immunization records. This is a State Requirement for all participants. Your physician needs to state that the student is able to participate in exercise related activities. Please turn these into Paula Martin at school.

We are all excited about the upcoming school year, and we hope to see all of you when practice begins on August 3rd !

Sincerely,

Bob Beatrice
