Multicultural Potluck

adminUncategorized

Thanks so much to everyone who came out for the Multi-Cultural Potluck on Thursday! The food was wonderful, the music was rockin’, and it was a great evening of conversation and community. A special thanks to everyone who shared a dish, to Hugh and all of the talented musicians who entertained us with music from around the world, to all of the students and parents who volunteered their time to set up, clean up, circulate carts with food samples provided by the foreign language department, and to help with sales of Plowsharing Crafts. Plowsharing Crafts are Fair Trade crafts handmade in many cases using sustainable and recycled materials by artisans, 70% of whom are women, from over 45 developing countries across the globe. Marketing their crafts at Plowsharing provides vital income for these people, and at the potluck event we were able to sell nearly $500 worth of crafts. Those funds turn into income for the artisans that is used to put food on the table, to provide healthcare, and to clothe and educate children.

Thank you for coming out and having a great time celebrating world cultures and the diversity of our Crossroads community. Let’s do it again next year!photo (6) photo (7) photo (8) photo (9) photo (10)
