Green Schools Quest

adminUncategorized

This year the seventh graders at Crossroads participated with 45 other schools in the Green Schools Quest and won 3rd place! We have a LEED Platinum building, but few of the students and staff knew about all of its green features. All 32 seventh graders researched and became experts on the sustainability aspects of our school then educated their peers and community via tours of the building. The focus areas included: Brownfield Redevelopment, Rain Garden and Native Landscaping, Reducing Heat Island Effect, Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency, Acoustic and Thermal Comfort, Volatile Organic Compounds, and Indoor Air Quality. To perpetuate this project, the seventh graders will be responsible for educating the new class of seventh graders about the green features of Crossroads then turning over the reins for conducting tours.
