Crossroads places 2nd at Sperring January 10th
Congratulations to the high school team of Andrew Kowalkowski, Katie Stujenske, David Dong, LaVaughn Caradine, and Homer Dula for their 2nd place finish (on tiebreakers) at the recent Gateway Class Tournament.   Katie and David went undefeated, finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively, on their classes, while Andrew finished 10th.  Nyla Long medalled for her 3-1 finish, and 8th grader Emanuel Gerbi continued his tournament winning streak by taking home 9th place overall for his section.  Great job everyone!  Crossroads‘ 9th grade and 8th grade teams finished in 4th and 5th place.  The 9th grade team included Nyla, Jonathan Lake, Joey Blank, Sarah Crawford, and Blake Fondren.  The 8th grade team included Emanuel, Ernie McCarter, Russell Bigham, Parker Lake, and Mystik Stargod.

Gateway Junior league Begins This Thursday.
7th, 8th, and 9th graders may participate. All matches take place Thursdays at Wydown Middle School in Clayton.There will be a one time cost of $10. We will depart from Crossroads at 4:00 pm. An additional parent driver is requested for each match. Please contact Howard for details.

Trivia night is coming!
February 7th is our annual trivia night fundraiser to benefit the Linda Russ Memorial Fund. This is our major fundraiser of the year. Please check your email for important information regarding jobs, donations, and more.

Next Saturday Tournament is January 24th
We will be playing at Pattonville High School.  The format is a 5 on 5 team tournament, but individuals may play also.  Let’s get at least 3 teams together!

  • Depart Crossroads College Prep: 7:30 am
  • Return to Crossroads College Prep: 8:15 pm
  • Cost: $12, cash or check payable to Gateway Chess League

United States Chess Federation membership is required for this tournament. Players must either show proof of membership or purchase membership at the tournament.   Please make check payable to “USCF” or “Gateway Chess League”

  • ages 16 and up: $24.00 (add extra $7 for Chess Life Magazine)
  • ages 13 to 15: $20.00 (add $7 for Chess Life)
  • under 13: $16.00 (add $7 for Chess Life)

Students should also bring a lunch or money to purchase food (breakfast, lunch, and snack)

High School Varsity League
Upper school matches take place on Wednesdays, immediately after school.  An additional parent driver is requested for away matches.

  • March 28-State Championships, Battle High School, Columbia, MO (HS section is USCF)
