Coach Beatrice is in his 17th year at Crossroads College Prep and has had a great deal of success in the SCAA. His teams have won five conference championships and have been the runner-up in a number of District Championship games. The teams that he puts on the court and field have a reputation for being aggressive and fast-paced, and play with a great deal of passion and energy. Bob played college baseball at The Catholic University of America. He served as the Assistant General Manager of the New York Yankees Class A affiliate in Virginia and has coached college baseball at East Stroudsburg University. Coach Beatrice spent nine years at the prestigious Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC, where he served as a football, basketball and baseball coach. He also currently is the Commissioner of the South Central Athletic Association.

He has run our Middle School program and served as an Assistant Coach for the Varsity. Ben is currently in his second season as the Boys’ Varsity Head Coach and will begin his third season with the girls this spring. Coach Birch played college soccer at the University of Missouri-Rolla and has been, and continues to, coach youth soccer in the St. Louis area. Under his leadership, his teams have won three SCAA titles and one District Championship team.
Before Todd became an educator in 2000, he was an officer in the U.S. Navy for seven years after graduating from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland with degrees in English and French. Since then and before beginning at Crossroads, he has taught both of these subjects (but mostly English) at independent schools in Minnesota, California and Switzerland. Todd left the west coast too quickly, but rather certain that he was not a Californian at heart. He reconsiders this often. An amateur audiophile, Todd spends waaaaay too much money buying vinyl LPs. He enjoys running, sometimes racing, skiing, reading, cooking and when time was easier, he used to go to the movies quite often. Oh, and coffee too.
Head Coach: Girls’ Varsity Basketball
Coach Pomatto is in his second year coaching after many successful years at other high schools. He has coached a number of sports in his 23 years he has been an educator. Mike served as the Head Baseball Coach at Marshall High School in Illinois, and at Whitfield School. He was also the Head Boys’ JV Basketball Coach at St. Bede Academy as well as Whitfield. Before moving to St. Louis, he coached football and served as Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. We are very excited to welcome Coach Pomatto to Crossroads College Prep Athletic Department.
Head Coach: Boys’ Varsity Basketball
Coach Abdul-Hamid is in his seventh season as Head Coach of the Current. Coach Abdul Hamid played basketball at Northwest High School here in St. Louis before heading off to play college ball at New Mexico State and Wichita State. Coach has worked at Northwest High School, run a successful AAU program (St. Louis Blazers) and coached at MICDS. One of his sons, Mustafa, played basketball at MICDS and UCLA. He is now playing professionally overseas. Coach Abdul-Hamid runs a disciplined system that brings out the best in all of his players. He is stern yet fair with his players and strongly believes that basketball is an opportunity to improve the character of young men and helps prepare them for real life situations. Coach has captured one District Championship in his tenure as Head Coach.
